Why I use a topstitch needle for piecing and machine quilting.

    http://www.superiorthreads.com/educa...versal-needle/

This is great information about the topstitch needle compared to universal needles.

Be sure to check out the "back to education" at the bottom of the article. There is a wealth of further info.

I've never heard of this before but after looking at the website - this is for me! Love the large eye. What size did you order? Thanks, Susan

oneyone, I am pleased to see someone posting this as I saw a recommendation in a book a couple of years ago and decided to give them a try, and the rest, as they say is history. GREAT needle for quilting and definitely cuts out most of thread breakage, especially on FMQ. I now use them all the time and mostly use the same size as I used before, size 12. I have to order a couple of packs in advance as they are not always available, maybe because us quilters have caught on

Thanks for this. It makes sense to me and I'm going to get some Superior top-stitch needles soon.

Forgot to say, I still use Schmetz needles as IMO they are the best.

For those of you who order from Superior, Bob Purcell, owner, actually traveled to Japan to watch the needles being made. They had asked him to be a retailer for the Organ needles. He said he would never put an item out for sale until he researched the products and how they were made. He was very impressed with Organ and began a long standing relationship with them. Sometimes I purchase from Bob, sometimes I can find the same Organ needle on a group buy. Love the 80/12 and the 90/14 Titanium Topstitch needles. DON'T FORGET TO ORDER THE FREE DVD THREADOLOGY.

I love the Organ Titanium topstich needles but I buy them on ebay. I get some really good deals. Last time I got a pack of 100 that included different sizes. I think it was around $20.
