I am doing the easy variation of the shoofly quilt. My question is do I separate each block with sashing?

If you do not want to have your HST (half square triangle) points meeting and sometimes being a problem sewing, then add the sashing!

lay out a few blocks side by side, then lay out a few with sashing strips between and see what you like best.

sashing also allows for being a little off without it being noticeable.

I find that if I lay out the two choices for a couple of days (or hours) I can then make up my mind easier and be happier with my choice. And be sure you do something else while they are laying there! Let your subconscious work on it too!

Yes, I do this sometimes. When you pass by the designs, the one you like the best will stand out.

You can go to image google and search for shoofly quilt and you will see
different settings. Maybe this might help you with your decision.
