My 1/4" foot has a small hole in the left toe(?), what is it for? There is a good picture of the foot on pages 10 & 15 of Izy's Easy Intersections Tutorial. :? :? :?

I have seen a foot like this foot used for 1/8" seam allowances and topstitching. Yeah it looked as strange/awkward as it sounds. LOL You would move your needle over until it drops down into that hole.

Do you find that your 1/4 inch foot isn't really 1/4 inch/ I find I have to move my needle to get a true 1/4 inch.

Yep! My 1/4 inch foot isn't either. I spent days assuming I was sewing poorly until someone on here suggested measuring the foot. It's off a little bit, so I have to move my needle a bit to compensate.

Without this board, who knows if and when I would've ever thought the foot was off instead of me?!?

I would have just assumed that the 1/4 inch presser foot would have been accurate.

Thanks for the heads up.

(wonder why we say "heads" up, when most of us only have one head?)

It refers to animal behavior. Have you seen animals eating. If something happens they stop and put their heads up to see what is going on. It is meant to say "watch out"
