Make a 4" finished friendship star and the rest in red and white strips.

To get the 4 1/2 inch square I would cut pieces 2 inch and 2 3/8 inches for the diagonals ??? I cant figure out the numbers for a true 4 inch...Originally Posted by loves_2_quilt

Or you can use a 1 1/2" template and make an ohio star.
4 rows with 4 blocks in each row will make a 4 1/2" unfinished quilt block.
I can not think today ,,,what if I wanted to make the star portion a blue and white pinwheel to finish at 4 inches square what size are the starting squares???
In order to get the stripes to align with the square I really need to end with an even number.
