I really like the one renda put a link to. Lots of great choices on quilterscache.

I've accidentally erased every word I've written two times now. This is on a word processor program I'll copy shortly.

4 patches can be made to 12" very easily. By 4 patch, I mean 4 squares wide by 4 squares high.

These names are taken from "1001 Patchwork Designs" by Maggie Malone (availale used from Amazon) . Many of these can be found other places with different names.

Naturally these would need some sort of sashing. All will be made from HST, some with solid squares. Most of what I show you will be no more than 2 colors plus the background color.

    Annie's Choice (my favorite, naturally!)
    Shooting Star
    Old Maid's Puzzle
    Crosses & Losses
Balkan Puzzle (same layout with colors change would be Windblown Square & Whirlpool)
    Return of the Swallows
    Pierced Star
    Clay's choice
    Trailing Star
    Ribbon Star
-----------quite a few "road to...." blocks with various destinations ----------------
    ----------Mosaic------------bunches of variations ______________
    Dutchman's Puzzle
    Fancy Stripes
    ----Broken Dishes -------------variations
    Peace & plenty
    Years Favorite
    Yankee Puzzle
    Louisiana
    Flying Dutchman
----------bunches of PINWHEEL & WINDMILL variations----------------
    End of DAy
    Bachelor's Puzzle I (3 colors)
Grandma's REd & White (also called Ribbons II)

    .................and many more.........................

Most of these will be on the QuiltersCashe site and in spite of what SHE claims, these blocks are in the public domain and were since before she was born. So, feel free to use any or all of them with no worry of copyright law.

The same can be done with many of the 9 patch blocks which I've not listed. Generally they are not my favorites

What is a lot of fun is to use 4 to 6 different block patterns and change the color placement in each. You will end up with 12 different looking blocks. Makes a really nice looking sampler quilt.
