Welcome to the board Ian. I would love to see the quilts. I don't know much about the craft in 1950s. But the suggestion for the quilt study group in Lincoln is what I would of suggested. There may also be an organization in Texas that keeps quilt history for the state.

Look forward to seeing the pictures.

What an awesome treasure for your friend. I too would love to see pictures. Does he intend to keep all of these quilts?

Since I last replied, I checked the IQSC site. There is a link to a national appraiser group - though I know it does not list everyone, because there is someone in our area that is not included. But it is a place to start. You might also check with museums in your area for any information they could share.

I am so glad you agreed to post pictures :D I will be looking forward to seeing them.

Good Morning Quilt Mom. Thank you for your support. I have let my friend know that he now has a support group of women he can share his quilt stories. I do have a correction in my information. These quilts belonged to his grandmother and I believe one or two from his great-grandmother. He will be taking pictures of his quilts after the Thanksgiving Holiday as he will be out of town. He can't believe that someone would like to see them! It's so nice to hear from you. lan

Phyllis, you bet! He had no idea how many quilters would love to see the quilts. I think we opened a new door for him. He will never be the same! lan
