I made a black & white winding ways quilt and loved how it turned out.

I can tell you what NOT to do. I just made a crazy black and white, and a dash of red. No one except me likes it. It did get a honorable mention in a quilt show, and the critque complimented me on the choice of fabrics. It was also ripped apart by a gentleman at the state fair, saying it was the uglist quilt he had ever seen. Just saying. It has 64 different black and white and 11 red.

Ten minute blocks work up beautifully with red centers!

I made for someone in the Boomeang 8 Sapphires group a black and white block with a bit of green. Bento box pattern. I think it is very nice and going to make a quilt for my daughter using the same colours. It is so fast to sew up. Just take a look on the web for the pattern and lots of pictures

Every time I think about a black and white quilt, I want to find a small piece of red, or green to place unobtrusively into the pattern...If you look closely, this fabric has reddish pinks...Somehow it seems to relieve the eye. So, I'm wondering if you have thought of that small addition....one fat quarter of another color tucked here and there as a flange or added seam in a block?

If they are all different - do a Sudoku quilt. I made a lap quilt for my niece-- one of the fat quarters had a little pink in it so I used some pink as an inner border and then black as the outside. On the back I used the leftover fat quarters as they were and just had big blocks using black rick rack to hide the seams --- she loved it!

Show Me Your Fat Quarters And I'll Show You Mine by Grizzly Gulch. Then add a pop of color around the three focus blocks and for the outer border.
