Billy, I need your help sir... or anyone elses, please.

What machine is this... and which version? I think it's a 301-b, right, but with the short flip up piece. aka, it's not a 'chopper' lol. But it looks like the motor is inside the machine itself...

What is this sucker worth? Will this one FMQ, drop dogs and sew great? Pictures, hopefully attached...

Is it worth $150 or what?

Looks like my Mom's 301. Don't know about the B part. What does it say on the medallian on the front? That's an interesting cabinet. Would be great for supporting a quilt as you put it together.

I just bought the tan one like it this week. As far as I know, that one is a 301 or 301A. Mine is a 301A. 301s were made in New Jersey. 301As were made in Anderson in the Carolinas. That is the only difference. Can you drop the feeds? Yes? Will it FMQ? I don't see why not, though I haven't tried. It had better - that's what I bought it for. My new little lady has a beautiful stitch and I love how you can manuever the fabric aound even with the feeds in place. They came in tan, black and a two tone cream and taupe. The tan and the black can have either a short bed or a long bed. Mine is short like that one.

Is it worth $150? I paid $60 for just the machine and she arrived cleaned and all ready to sew with a new cord and foot. I'd pay more for one in that cabinet. I love that cabinet - the color, the shape, everything about it.

I have the dark tan 301. I love it. I don't know what it's worth moneywise because it was a gift but I wouldn't trade it for a new machine.

I have no clue what the "B" is for.. I have a mocha 301, so I'm no expert on them other than they are total workhorses!

Thanks everyone. I'll call the lady tonight and ask her some questions. Yeah, I like the cabinet too. Very much. I'm not sure what the designation is between a and b. I think it has to do with the motor housing.... and I don't know which is better.

By squinting at the pictures, it looks like the electric may need a new cord, or to be redone. If so, I might be able to ask for less. It's been for sale for a month... and I just stumbled across it today.

I see people selling these here on CL from $50-$150 depending on both machine and table are in great shape etc. Of course, I've also seen people out in never-never land asking $450 and up and they don't sell. I think $150 is on the higher end. I probably wouldn't pay more than $50 for both, but I like a bargain.

For ME - for $150 the machine better purr like a kitten and sew like dream!

I don't think I paid more the $60 for either of mine and they're pretty, unscratched, clean, and purr and sew with style!

quiltinghere... did you just get the machine? Or the machine in the Deco corner cabinet too? The cabinet is gorg... however, I really wanted the 301 to be portable for classes, like it's little sis. I 'could' find a carry case for the 301, and put my 66-16 in the nice cabinet!!! According to Singer, it would fit. Hummm

WELL... the owner is out of town until the end of the month.... so I have some time to decide. I DID find out (thanks to ?? who posted the cabinet specs, that my 66-16, the 301A and the 201A I'm considering buying... can all fit in the Model 40 standard cabinet I already have. They'll also change out to the Deco cabinet as well - supposedly.
