I have to add a 4 inch hanging sleeve to each quilt that was accepted into my local quilt fair. I have prepared the sleeves. Now should I add them to the very top of the back of the quilt. What part of the sleeve should I attach to the quilt. I obviously have to hand sew them on but what is the best way to do this. I want to remove them after the fair.

I've made sleeves for my wall hangings and place them about an inch below the very top, or stitch them under the binding. I then stitch them along the top and tack them down on either end at the bottom so they don't lift up and show about the quilt when hung.

If your quilts are large, you may want to find out how high the rods will be hung that will go through the sleeve. If the rods are 8' above the ground, and your quilt is 9' long, you may want to put the sleeve further down on the quilt so that the quilt doesn't touch the ground. (It would fold over on top instead.)
