just bought this old singer trying to findout more its made in usa by singer co. says simanco usa 21 on bottom of machineserial num on back of motor is6565205i think gotta clean her up better has AJ168711on machine to

according to http://www.singerco.com/uploads/asse...GER_AJ_nos.pdf , it's a model 66, 25,000 made, born march 15, 1949

Check out the topic Vintage Sewing Machine Shop in the Main section. Lots of great info on there. Also look in Tutorials. There are some great tutes on cleaning her up!

That 25,000 number means how many serial numbers for that model were authorized on THAT DATE only. There were many hundreds of thousands of the 66s made over the years. That is just one day that serial numbers for that model were issued, and that's how many on that day only. :-)

She looks just like the one I learned to sew on, probably a sister ;). That's a great machine that will just keep on stitching away.
