Retired from teaching at 58 (my husband is older and he wanted to play), at 59 we had 4 deaths in the immediate family, moved to a mountain cabin near Yosmite and began a 5 year long healing process. At 60 I began to quilt which sort of amazed me because I grew up on a ranch and was the tomboy to beat all tomboys. Gee's Bend librerated my quilting, my husband loves my hobby and helps out whenever asked. We moved a few years ago to a one-bedroom apartment (in the top of a barn) closer to civilization and guess what..... there is a "craft" room next door and my wonderful newphew and his wife put a washer dryer in there and gave me one end to use (about 22x12' + large laundry area)... and at times I spill over onto the ping pong table (I have 4 3/5' folding tables already). Quilting had a lot to do with the healing (so did the mountains), which is probably a lot why my husband is so supportive of it! Overall, I'm one of the lucky ones in life.

Started quilting in Feb, turned 62 in May. Can't wait to retire so I can spend more time on quilting

I started when I retired at age 67. Wish I could have started sooner.

Started last fall after turning 67. It is slow going, but I'm making progress.

I was 60+ when I started quilting. Sewed for many years before, but now I am hooked on the piecing and quilting.

I took my first quilting class at age 62 (5 years ago) and have not stopped quilting since. I have always been "crafty" and have been sewing since I was 8 yrs. old, but quilting has take over as my favorite thing to do.
