I was going to make a snap bag ( the ones with a piece of metal tape measure inside ) for a trip . Now I am thinking there might be an issue with it at the airport , going through security. Has anyone had one of these in an airport? or had any problems with security?

It should be OK...the purse straps have metal attaching them to the bag....

Several years ago, I made matching snap bags for a quartet I sang with. We took them on the plane with no issues. As Cheryl says, they go on the belt...no problem. There are metal bits on lots of commercially made bags, and they don't have problems either.

Some of the guys at work said that they might think you are hiding a weapon in there. I wouldn't want them to tear it apart or confiscate it. Every thing is so iffy now with flying.

I suppose the shape could look suspicious.
I wonder if there was a way your could make the bag so you could slide the pieces out so you could show what they were?
In a checked bag it wouldn't be an issue but i wouldn't want them to take a bag i was using in my purse
