Here's one for you. Add corner triangles in your background fabric so it won't be on point (as in the instructions).

Ruby McKim's Weeping Willow pattern always looked like a Tree of Life to me. They have it on about.com as a 30" block but if you just make it with 1" finished strips it will be 15" instead. It's a beautiful pattern.
