A charity group I've worked with uses crochet cotton to tie quilts.

I use it for basting with Sharon Shamberg method (hounds tooth). There is a video around here where one quilter uses it to join her blocks.

I use size 12 thread to big stitch a quilt. Gosh, I cant imagine the size holes in the fabric with crochet "thread"'. I use the crochet thread to make lace edging. All I can say is give it a try and report back to us. We'd love to know.

It is great in primitive or modern quilts. A fun way to quilt a whole quilt or just sections.

I've used it for years in hand quilting using a larger stitch length and larger needle. Love the look of it!

I use crochet thread for tying, using 3 strands and think it is better than using embroidery thread.

Or use the crochet thread to make sashiko stitches. Use a solid homespun which is not so closely woven.
