Could one of you folks who has made this bag (I bot the MINI pattern) measure the finished length and width for the cardboard insert, please? I have to buy the mat board and don't want to buy too small. Approx is fine! Just don't want to buy 8 x 10 if I need 17 length. Thanks in advance!

About 12X4 each one I made varies a little but not more than 1/4 inch or sew!

Thanks UP NORTH! Since I haven't made the bag yet I had no idea what the size would be. I live 30 miles (1 way) from the closest craft store. Now I have a good idea of the size. Off to the sewing room!!!

I just use a nice piece of cardboard in mine and cover it with a pillow case type covering.

I cut my card board with an old rotary cutter blade, makes a nice smooth cut.

I use plastic canvas in all mine, two layers. Makes it firm, but flexible. I also cover the plastic with fabric, of course. Cardboard can crease or bend over time. As far as measurements, I measure each time. I always forget to write it down.

I use old 50 cent plastic placemats and cover with fabric envelope. Do you remember them? Cushioned plastic, they still sell 4/$1 at the Dollar Store.

I found plastic chopping mats (12x15) @ the $$ store yesterday! 2 to a package. Think they will be perfect for bottom of bow tuck purse. Thanks again for all the ideas!
