Default How would you bind this dark quilt top and light quilt back?? I'm scared!

I have this quilt top which is surrounded at the outer edges with a piano key border but I want to have the backing the lighter color fabric I have set on top of the quilt top for reference.

I'd really like to do some special custom quilting on this one so I want to have a lighter fabric on the back so you can see the quilting.

How would you go about binding this? I guess I need to research how to have 2 different binding fabrics.
If you have had success with this I would appreciate your tips. Thanks.

Your quilt is beautiful! If it were mine I would go with the dark fabric to bind it.

Yes the darker blue to sort of fence it in...and as far as the back.....it is the back!

Same here. I would bind with a dark blue. I would not use a two-color binding, as it's not necessary in this situation. Both back and top will look fab with a dark blue binding.

If you have enough of the lighter backing fabric, you could use it for the binding. The backing fabric would match nicely with the lighter parts in the front. If you want a dark strip on the front, take a look at Charisma's QB tutorial titled Quick Machine binding with flange. You could use the backing fabric for the main binding with a darker blue accent flange in the front. Beautiful quilt top!

I think darker or between medium and dark would frame it up nicely. I think the paler blue that you chose for backing is great for the back, but too light for the binding. It won't set off the piano key border as well as a darker one would. I don't think I'd do a flange binding for this one. It's got enough to grab your attention already...It's a gorgeous quilt!

bind it with the darker fabric. It will make a beautiful frame around your beautiful quilt.

I'm not understanding why you feel you would need two different binding fabrics. You're thinking a dark binding won't look good with the light backing?

That is a beautiful quilt!

Make it scrappy with pieces of your border and the backing.
