Default washable glue stick - different brands

I have been using the elmers brand glue sticks and I like them very much. I am wondering has anyone used some of the off brand sticks? Do they work as well.. and wash out the same as the Elmer's brand? I am looking a brand "School Smart" at Amazon. I just don't want to order just to find out its garbage?

I buy glue sticks at the dollar store, 4 pack for $1...they work fine & wash out no problem. I don't think I would pay Amazon prices for something so basic. Even our local Walgreen's pharmacy has 4-packs for $1.29

ok thanks.. I wouldn't spend a lot for them. I will try some of the non name brand. I don't really live close to a Dollar Store.. I'm in the sticks and Amazon will deliver to me for free. I just have never used anything but the Elmer's brand

I like to use them, too, but find Elmer's and others are "fat". I like the Sewline ones because of that - also they are refillable. Are any of the above as thin?

Rose Art has skinny washable glue sticks but they are hard to find in stores. When I find them I buy them all. They are great for applying a skinny strip of glue just like the Sewline.

I bought a package of 3 glue sticks (can't remember the name) but they did have a phone number on them and when I called, they said all their glue sticks were washable. I got them at Walmart in the scrapbooking department. I took that to mean if they didn't say anything, they were washable. They were less than $1.00 each.

I googled SewLine glue pens and found them @ Amazon, Fat Quarter Shop & equilateral.com.
