Default Advice on 12.5 in Blocks

Hi Ladies,

I've got two current projects that ask for 12.5 inch Finished blocks, but the 80% of the blocks I have patterns for are all 12 inch Finished. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can find the 12.5 in Finished blocks? Or is there a way that I can use the 12 inch blocks but adjust the size of the blocks? I figured if anyone would know it would be the group on here, thanks!

Are you sure that size is 12.5 finished? Usually it's 12 inches finished. I am part of the swap on the QB and it's 12.5 unfinished. If not, I suggest adding boarders to your block to bring it up to size or just adding the appropriate measurement to get the size you want. Hth, gina

I think someone has given you bad information. It's more likely that the blocks are supposed to be 12.5" UNfinished.

yep, pretty much blocks finish whole sizes , 12,14,16, 8 etc. the half inch is seam allowances. check again and make sure before you start the project. good luck and have fun!!

I agree, somethings sounds incorrect.

I agree with the others. Likely you need 12.5" UNfinished blocks.

There are several blocks that DO finish at 12.5" in two books I have by Judy Hopkins - Around the Block and Around the Block Again. It is very possible.
A 25-unit grid (five units across by five down) will not always finish off with a whole number. Shown below is my latest project with blocks that are unfinished at 13" but finished at 12.5".

I have the book 501 Rotary- Cut blocks by Judy Hopkins and there are several blocks in there that finish at 12 1/2 some 13 1/2 and some 12 1/4
