I'm looking for a quilt block/pattern that will showcase a fabric that has a larger print on it (it has baby jungle animals). I want to use it without distorting what the print is.
Any suggestions on blocks that might work or have worked for you in the past? I'm looking for something in the 6"-8" range, finished.

If you peruse these gallery pictures, you will notice that sometimes, there are big blocks with patterns in between. There are many galleries and Claudia always has a free block of the month project that is part of a bigger quilt. I don't know if you enjoy exploring websites, but if you do, this is a site worth studying. I don't know how big your pictures are in your fabric, but with fussy cutting, you can really make an impressive quilt with the focus subjects and some strips, squares or triangles.
Be sure to be ready to post a picture of some of your work :P for inspiration for others. <wave>

Really big disappearing 9 patch? If you put the animals where the hearts are http://blocksnswaps.blogspot.com/200...g-9-patch.html, and then a complimentary fabric for the strips that get cut up, it will show your animal print. Plus this pattern makes such a cool quilt when it's done. As long as you start with all equal size squares, you can do this in any size you want

Thansk everyone for the help. I'm still debating on blocks but I spent some quality time with EQ6 last night and I've narrowed it down. Once I get a test block done this weekend, I'll post it to show the results!

So, I put together a few blocks and I'm relatively happy with the way they came out. I'll need to be careful of how I cut the centre block to make sure I get the animals in it, but you get the idea.
There are two different block colourings. I'm hoping this will give it more of a plaid type look.
There are pictures attached.
