Thanks for the tips. I ended up (I use #37) doing the sewing on a piece of paper trick to see where I needed to line it up. I really like the tip of buying two spools of thread and using one for just bobbins so you know you have enough to last. I also do not like #37 for zig zags. Ashamed to say I've tried it more than once!
