Advice on putting together these crazy quilt blocks for quilt...
#61
Ooohh Kif you have made a beautiful crazy quilt to honor your Mom and your embellishments really make it a heirloom for your family. You really should make one of those pockets on the back where you can put a written description of everything on it for future generations to know about it!! I've never made one either & this makes me want to! Looking forward to seeing it finished!! You amaze me too in all you do!

I'm sorry all, I've finished the quilt, and just haven't got a pic posted. I'll take one and get it posted under the pics section here on QB.
I ended up using 9 of the squares, all 12 made it too heavy for Mom, as all she's done since I gave it to her is hold it, and look and have memories of so many of the items I put on it.
My dh just made her a display (pressure type) to hang it. But I won't hang it until she's ready for us to. I'm thrilled she's getting so much enjoyment from it!
The other 3 blocks will be a bed runner type quilt for her. Probably to display on top of the hope chest my dh made her years ago.
I do know traditionally crazy quilts weren't sashed, but Mom's eye sight isn't great, and I wanted her to be able to enjoy the quilt. The "break" in between blocks has helped her. Plus the blocks were in a way "themed", so the sashing works well with that.
Thank you all for commenting..and your compliments. This quilt was the most entailed one I've made to date. And it's meant the most to me for obvious reasons.
Regards,
Kif

Now that I've read the rest of the thread, I deleted what I wrote. Instead I'll say the blocks are beautiful and I'll pop over to see the finished quilt.
I'm so glad your Mom loves the quilt. Hugs!
