Help, I'm new to quilting & I am entirely self-taught. I accidentally pushed the "tension knob" on my 21 year-old Kenmore... the instruction booklet doesn't say how to reverse this, and my tension is all messed up. It's not the 'numbered' tension knob, but rather a button on top (which made a serious 'thunk' when I pressed it down.) Any ideas anyone? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I can only imagine that the button you pushed is not your tension but your foot pressure button...when you say "on top" I have two old Kenmores so I think you are talking about the foot pressure button... its called a push bar..... it has a lock release collar.... when the bar is pushed down to increase the pressure, the collar locks the bar into place... when the collar is pushed it releases the bar and the pressure is decreased.

so if you pressed the collar, the bar "clunked" up..there should be numbers on the bar...press the bar back down....I have mine set between 3 and 4... I could email you pictures if you like...pm me!

You should be able to press down the center part and release by the outer ring. This is how you press down on fabric.....you adjust it for light to extra heavy fabric......hope that helps :D

Hi and thanks! So it's 'up' for thicker loft and depressed for 'thinner' lofts? thanks again :)
