I use mine all the time in the kitchen for cutting up stuff!

They are also good for when I need to cut a small piece of fabric. I can grab one quick.

I buy cheap kitchen mats, which are thin and flexible and cut up to make strong bag bottoms. Hope I'm talking about same as LoriEl.

That is why i buy them! I cover them with scraps of fusible fleece ( dont iron it!) then cover it with fabric. Works great as a purse bottom. I have a separate rirary just fir cutting non fabric items. Be very careful cutting these plastic sheets!

Are they the kind that don't stick to anything, so you can do applique with glue sticks on them?

I have used them for template plastic and if they are the thin kind...I use them in making my card holder wallets. The sewing machine will sew through it if you are careful and it makes a nice stiff holder.
