All in a day's work
Whew!! It's 10:13 and I don't think I've ever spent this long in the sewing room!!
Woke up early and got the house cleaned. Yeah ... I like having that "off my back" so I don't have to stop what I want to be doing to do something I should be doing. Plus ... the quilt shop didn't open until 9:00 AM so I had a few hours to kill!!
Went the LQS to buy supplies for THREE projects. One I've been working on, and two new ones.
I bought some different homespuns for the baby quilt I'm working on (still in the piecing stage, the homespuns are for the applique stage).
Felt, white Kona cotton, and a few other "essentials" for a needle case (I'm in the needle case swap here on QB).
I wanted a Jelly Roll for a chemo quilt, but they didn't have any Jelly Rolls that I liked and I'm skeptical about pre-cuts anyway as I'm a dedicated pre-washer - and this "Jelly Roll Race" quilt will have an applique on it and that fabric MUST be pre-washed - so I didn't want to mix un-washed with washed and risk uneven shrinkage. So I bought 8 different fabric in 1/2 yard and 3/4 yard cuts. I also bought the black fabric for the applique.
Came home and laundered my new fabric.
Most of the design for the needle case was in my head already, so I played around a little, searched the net for ideas and completed my needle case today.
I then set to work starching and ironing the 8 pieces of fabric for the chemo quilt (4.5 yards) and got it all cut into 2.5" strips!!! It's all ready for me to start sewing tomorrow.

I can't show you my needle case because our swap partners are a secret until they are delivered, but here is the result of my Jelly Roll strips.

You'll be .... Singing the Blues! with a little sunshine mixed in! 
Such a pretty mix of fabrics that your quilt is sure to be a winner even before you start sewing!
You have me totally curious as to what the black applique is oing to be?

"Singing the blues with some sunshine mixed in" is a GREAT quilt name! But the name I have for you? One busy little bee! Wow! I couldn't get that much stuff in a month of Sundays! But, please, explain to me... what is this thing you did called "cleaning the house"? That is something I've erased from my memory... LOL!

Maria (the chemo patient) is remarkably good humored about her condition and our first conversation after she was diagnosed was about losing her hair and the funny wigs she is going to buy. Strangely enough (and I didn't know this until I woke up this morning and saw the pic's on FB) she had a big "hair cutting" party last night with all kinds of pink food and she cut her long locks into a short spikey cut. I would have loved to have had the quilt delivered (she's in CA) to her for that party!
She just had her first chemo treatment this past Wednesday, she's got a long ride ahead of her. They're doing chemo first, then a double masectomy (double is her choice - she said "tits are like tires, you have to replace them in pairs or you drive wonky").

There'll be some pretty blue times ahead for her and your quilt arrive to bring a bit of sunshine!
She'll need it more then ... than now, when she's just starting this journey.

P.S. ... and good for you for skipping the pinks and the ribbon logo. IMHO C-victims do not need those reminders, as they work their way thru to becoming C-survivors!

I chose blue/white/yellow because she's a BIG Dodgers fan and I've always thought it the most cheerful color combination in the world.
