I have a Janome 11000. When I embroider I reduce the top tension quite a bit. Hope this helps. Ann

Thank you all for the advice. I finally managed to complete a butterfly that wasn't albino. I got some stay press stuff and wrestled with the fabric/stabilizer and hoop till I got it like a drum. The first butterfly still had some white so next time I tightened the hoop further which worked great. However I had also changed to a smaller hoop which was a bad move as while I was grinning away to myself and feeling quite smug the presser foot hit the edge of the hoop and broke the needle. I sorted it all out and changed back to the bigger hoop, reversed the machine by a few stitches and watched my lovely pink butterfly metamorphose into something equally pink but with no known butterfly shape. Pride and falling comes to mind! The butterfly isn't quite perfect but it's definitely the best of my bunch!
