I started a new top on Saturday morning and I'm almost finished the top! One more border to add and it's all finished! It was a kit that I had bought and I was going on the weekend to a sewing day for the guild and needed something to work on so I decided to start this one, but of course me being me, I decided I didn't like the look of it. I thought it was too plain, so the nine patch blocks are all D9P now... The original pattern is called "Point Nine" and is supposed to use interfacing for the entire thing then sew together when it is all layed out on the grid but I find that the grid adds bulk that I didn't want in my quilt. I'll finish it up tonight and post a picture or two.

Anyone else do that? Tweek a pattern as you are working on it to make it a little different? Or am I just a little more unusual then normal?

I don't think I could stick to a pattern if somebody paid me. Seems like I always have a better idea and forget the pattern. Thats your creativity coming out.

Me, too. I usually just make "cuddle" quilts (lap size), so I often change a bed-sized quikt to one about 50 - 60" square, change the colors, change the block sizes, etc. Makes it easier to handle when quilting, and I don't have to wait so long to see it done.

We're supposed to follow a pattern? I thought those were just for inspiration & size requirements. I can't follow a recipe either and spend quite a bit of time figuring out how not to stay on the interstate during long trips. It's too boring!
