Default Alvin and I

Just received my Alvin cutting mat and absolutely pleased with the item. I had posted earlier about this brand and received many comments. The Alvin mat is thicker than other brands and should last longer than my others. Thanks to all for earlier responses. Away I gooooooooooo!!!!

Is Alvin the brand that is sold to engineers, etc rather than being marketed to sewists? If so, I've seen some in a store here and they have an amazing range of sizes...

I don't know about the engineers but when I was "researching" they claim to be twice as thick as the other brands. Also said it could be used with a utility knife by those making signs or such. It also mentioned that it could be used for the sewing aspect. Google in the Alvin cutting mat. I found that Amazon was the cheapest with free shipping. I really like the mat! Look it up and you will see the description.

sounds like the same one...and yes, they are extra thick = engineers and drafting folks us the utility knives and exacto knives a lot which is why they are so thick...have been meaning to get one but haven't worn my others out yet and can't justify the cost...of course, if I stopped buying so much fabric, I'm sure I could do it.

I just purchased a 18x24 inch mat from Amazon last night.

Can't wait to get it, I have worn out TWO Olfa mats in the last
3-4 months the only unmarred areas of these mats is in the 3-4
inche area right in the middle of the mats.

It's starting to get VERY expensive to keep replacing my mats
so often.

If your wondering YES I do tons of cutting.
