Am I missing something?
I am cutting out 2 1/2" diamonds and thought I would use my Easy Six ruler that I have had for years and never used. Cut my strips and then cut the diamonds on the 2 1/2" line. They looked bigger that the 2 1/2" strips that I had just cut. Put one on top of the strip and it was bigger. I then measured the ruler against my tape measure. Wait a minute, 2 5/8"! Used two other rulers, same thing. The packaging that the ruler came in is an a box somewhere, and would take too long to find. Before I cut the diamonds down, am I supposed to use a larger seam, or do something else to compensate for the larger portion? Want to have the pieces fit when I put them together. (Don't laugh so loud, you want that dream too!) Advise please. Thank you in advance.

If you are cutting diamond shapes from a strip they do get bigger because of the angle. Sew a couple together and see if the 1/4 seam allowance makes up the difference. I am sure someone else can do the math for you to turn out perfect diamonds but I am math challenged.

Check this out. The instructions are there for the Easy Six. http://www.ozquilts.com.au/easy-six-ruler-p18640.html I think the extra is to make up for the diamond shape. When you sew it together you will have the right sized diamond.
