Amount of material

The measurements for backing and binding are as follows:
Twin @ 63x87 5 1/4 yds, plus 3/4 yds for binding
Double @ 78x87 5 1/4 yds plus 3/4 yds for binding
Queen @ 84x 92 7 1/2 yds plus 7/8 for binding
Kig 100x92 8yds. plus 1 yd. for binding.
As for hte figuring for blocks....it is dependant upon the particular block chosen. Some are more intricate than others. you would however start with the end block size desired. Measure the size needed to achieve that from the different parts of the block. Remembering to add the 1/2'' for the seam allowances. Average the totals and figure the total amount from that. Most material is measured @ 42 inches by whatever yard length you purchase. Hope this is helpful. :?

Several sites have fabric caculators. I know that there have been a couple of links to these on this site. Go up to the search and type in fabric caculator and it will take you to the treads on this site that have them listed.
