Has anyone ever heard of an Angler 2 Template

http://www.pambonodesigns.com/SuperS...ProductID=1084

Is it worth buying? Does it work?

Thanks

that's a very interesting little gadget. it looks like it would take only a little practice and could come in very handy if you make your HSTs by sewing through squares. $8 is a bit pricey for a piece of printed plastic, but if that's your favorite method, it looks worth the purchase.

Oh, I do hate to agreeably disagree with dear Patrice  I bought one several years ago, and it sits lost in my sewing room unused and unloved. Moving the plastic on and off my sewing machine bed got old really fast, and I've been happy with making HSTs by drawing diagonal lines  PM me your addy, and I'll try to find it and send it on to you.

I have an AnglerII and I love it. Bought it about 4-5 years ago and I always use it , I have 3 different sewing machines and it fits each one great. Don't remember if I paid $8 but if you do make a lot of hst, I think it is worth it. It eliminates marking your fabrics, which saves me a lot of time.

I have The Angler. It came before Angler 2 and is the same except it has only the two 45-degree lines, not all those other ones; however, it works on the same principle. I've had it for years and have not used it for years. As I recall, I was not thrilled with it when it was new.

I will "play" with it this weekend, however, and give you an updated opinion in a day or two.

I have one, can't remember if it is I or II, but I do much better either eyeballing for smaller HST or drawing a line. But then again I didn't, play with it very much.

I had one and loved it but got tired of taking it on and off so finally just took a permanent marker and made marks on my sewing machine bed!!

I watched a video on the internet about it, and saw one in my LQS today. Not sure I would like it, but I'm open to trying anything! :)

Thank you for your help. I can't tell you how many sewing items I have purchased but never used. I had a June Taylor rule for 2 yrs before someone (can't remember who, but she is my new best friend)on this site told me how great it was. I started using it - She was correct.

For those of you who have it, could you answer another question, would it also help with sewing the almighty 1/4" seam more accurately? I have tape on my machine to help with sewing the seam now.....

By the way, did you check out Pam Bono's free quilt patterns?

I did some sewing this a.m. using The Angler. It took me several minutes to get everything lined up exactly right; I then taped the plastic Angler to my machine bed with blue painters' tape and I sewed first a scant 1/4" seam and then a diagonal end (same principal as diagonal corner for Flying Geese or Snowball) and both worked fine.

It's worthwhile to take the time of placing it exactly where it needs to go and taping it on if you want to use it for a lot of diagonal sewing, i.e, chain piecing. As a 1/4" seam guide only, however, your strip of tape on the machine bed should be just as useful and less awkward or, if you need a "bumper" as a 1/4" foot has, you can use a portion of a pad of Post-It notes as a guide.
