Another family heirloom I would like to ID - help?

This is also a pinwheel quilt pattern. Notice how the white parts come together to form a pinwheel each place they meet. Twin Sister is just one of the names this pattern comes under.
You could try a google image search for "pinwheel quilts".

Remove or clean staining on this quilt?
Folks, not sure if anyone's noticed, but this quilt (and probably others!) I have managed to save does have some staining. The next to last photo in this set shows two blocks stained with blood, I'm pretty sure - don't think it's wine or coffee - again, since I am away from home and can't look at these quilts right now, I can't really get the best idea of the staining.
What sort of tips on dealing with that sort of stuff? I'd rather just stabilize versus attempt to remove the staining, since I bet it would harm the rest of the quilt to try completely removing the stains.
Especially since I think these may be blood stains - from when we used this and other quilts as "multi-purpose blankets" for our kids when they were little. Don't really want to erase the stains - can I just leave them alone?
Thanks
Adam
