I know someone who has recently been confined to a wheelchair. I would like to make a lap quilt for him, but am not sure what size to make. Does anyone know what size it should be? Or any suggestions on a pattern? I'd like something quick, as he and his wife will be moving in with one of my relatives on Tuesday... their house is always chilly.
He is and adult male, if this helps at all. I don't know him well at all, so I don't really know what he likes. But I'm sure he'd appreciate it no matter what.
    Thanks in advance everyone!

I think a crib size 45X60 or so would be good. However, sit yourself down in a chair and look at and measure what would work for you. Go from there. Really depends on how big he is.

I was confined to a wheelchair and the quilt has to be small so that it doesn't get caught in the front wheels. It might sound tiny but a good size is about a 30 inch square.

If you can find out his inseam size, that would make a good length. Then guess how big it would need to go around him and be able to tuck into the sides of the wheel chair.

I just read that 38x47 is a "standard" size. That sounds big for a woman but probably good for a man.

The 36 x 45 is approx what I used to make for my Mom. I also stitched in some little ties on the top edges before adding the binding so that I could tie the quilt to the chair arms so it wasn't a problem with it slipping. I also made a pocket that was only attached at the binding, so she could put her "good hand" down into the actual pocket (sorry I'm not describing this very well)
One fun pattern was an easy attic window, and just use some fun fabrics for the window.
This is one I actually made from scraps for my MIL.
