I made a wheelchair quilt for my sister for Christmas and took it to the home she is residing but didn't think about it much since the weather is warmer but yesterday I decided to look in her cupboard to see if it was put away and to my shock it has disappeared! Inquiries from staff didn't bring any results. Just really upset about this it took me months to put the squares together which I had already cut years ago in red white and green left over from other project done many years ago, days before rotary cutters. Can you you believe this. I labelled with her name and even sewed it into the quilting so when they did laundry it wouldn't come off. Just had to vent.

That's why I chose to do my Mom's own laundry. I have heard stories like that....

That is why I did my Mom's laundry for her. Even with that, some things disappeared and some strange things appeared. She was in an alzheimers unit and I can't blame the residents for wandering and picking up things. You will probably never find it...sorry...

Ask the staff to keep an eye out for it. Also talk personally to the laundry people. Sometimes things do get put in the wrong rooms. My DS is the nurse incharge at a large nursing home and this is always an issue. They have a couple of residents who regularly "help themselves" to others property. They don't even understand that it isn't ok. Names on articles do help but priceless things probably shouldn't be taken into long term care.

I made my mom simple quick quilts from colours she loved. That way I knew that if they disappeared they could easily be replaced. They didn't loose her quilts but sometimes we did have to go hunting for some of her clothes.

A true story: My beautician took her father-in-law, a nursing home resident, out for lunch. She noticed that he was having a difficult time chewing. Gave him a napkin and asked him to give her his denture. Low and behold, he had someone else's teeth!

When my Brother in law was in a nursing home, they even swiped his shirts! Its terrible what some people will do!
