Another quilting question
I made this highly colored quilt from..."planned overs". Will be giving it to my friend who just started chemo. The back is red minke, never used it before. I am wondering what type of thread to use. I also wondered about sitd or FMQ. The blocks are sewn to lightweight cotton, so I wondered if all the seams would cause problems sewing with my dsm. Picture not good because it is taped to basement floor! Thanks!

I have never used Minkie but I have used fleece and a very fluffy furry stuff. I glue my quilts so it's not as much of a problem. I usually SID but the fluffy one I did FMQ and didn't have a problem. I usually use machine quilting thread. A couple times, because of color, I have used regular sewing thread.

Very striking quilt. Love the red. I used a 50 wt poly thread on the last quilt I did with minkee, and just did a meander. Whether your DSM can handle the seams depends on your DSM! If you have any scraps, I would put together a small sample sandwich and try it. If your machine balks, try a larger needle.

I haven't used minky for backing - only furry stuff - and I tied that one...so no help, sorry.
Just wanted to say that your quilt is so very cheerful and bright - and to send you hopeful thoughts for your friends recovery.
