Default Any ideas on how to quilt this?

I finally finished this top and now am in a quandry as to how to quilt it. Daughter wants Minkie on the back and so I am thinking having it longarmed is out (plus not too sure I would want an all-over design). Any ideas out there? Thanks

Many LAQ will quilt with Minkee backing and whatever gave you the idea that LAQ only do all over designs?

i would quilt lines around the various elements of the quilt. the more open spaces... some sort of grass-like lines in the green and more quilted clouds in the sky.

You could do a cute scale pattern on the dragon's body, too.

Your quilt is adorable. I love the colors. Did you have a pattern or did you make it up?

I long arm quilts with minkie backs all the time! About our favorite backing. And I very, very seldom do an ( all over) pattern. Your quilt is adorable! I would probably outline the appliques, add embellishments to some areas, like dragon scales, quilted flowers & clouds, it would be fun to highlight quilt this quilt! I love quilts like this one for creative quilting.

I have something similar, but not as nice! Your is lovely. I would edge stitch around the applique, all the pieces. The. I would do a loopy cloud-type thing in the sky and a pokey, grass type thing for the grass. Leah Day has some great fills that look like clouds and grass. Wish I had a picture of the one I did. The quilting turned out nicely, though the applique on yours is wonderful!

Your quilt is SO cute! I just finished a baby quilt with minky backing and wool batting. It turned out so fluffy and soft. Doing FMQ, as some have suggested, would really accentuate the dragon applique, sun, clouds and flowers.
I thought of doing FMQ on my domestic machine but chickened out after buying minky backing. I opted for an overall pantograph by my LAQ'er instead. It was more affordable than custom work and still turned out nice.
Yours would be spectacular with creative FMQ'ing.

I would not use an all over design on your quilt. I'd probably outline all the little cuties and then do like one of the other gals said about putting in clouds and grass. Minkie or flannel makes a nice warm loveable blankie that any kid would love to cuddle.
