I feel very alone, no one in my quilt group except me uses southwestern fabrics.

You can use any thing you want to do. We joke about the quilt police but there isn't any really. This is America we are a free country. You can pick any fabric and any pattern you want and put it together...
You have been here a long time but have been in many topics

I use them and in fact, I am working on one now with SW fabric! Well, not working on it right this second.. but it is a WIP!
Next time I get it out to complete, I will post a pic so you don't feel so all alone!

I've made quilts from bandanas and I given strange looks by other quilters. thanks for the support. I'll see if I can find any pictures of quilts I've done. But I'm a big quilt finisher. I finish other peoples quilts. I hate to see unfinished quilts after someone put alot of work into them.

I've made a quilt for my husband out of bandana's. It was pretty western--cuz he is pretty western, and as simple as that quilt is, he loved it.
Quilts are for you or the people you want to enjoy it. I stayed with a lady a month ago who is a quilter. She uses bug and vine fabrics. She is a landscaper (?) and that is what made her quilts personal.

If we don't put part of our likes, and personality into our quilts we might as well make the same quilt with the same fabrics as everyone else does.

I lived in New Mexico for several years and I love everything Southwest including fabrics. You are not alone. I am working on a Southwest themed applique quilt and a Lakota Sioux Star quilt. I will post pics when they are done.

I just love southwestern fabrics and have quite a few. Right now I am looking for a red print for a wall hanging i am making called Navajo Blanket. There have been quite a few made on here keep looking in the pictures you will find more than you think. As I am part indian, those fabrics remind me of my heritage and draws me to them all the time. Just make what feels good and you will be happy with them. If you need someone to give them to remember me. LOL

Although, not quite southwestern came out with the definate flair, used stretched Irish Chain, with golds, mute berryish tones, W/orangish and it had the look. Didn't plan but was cool afterwards, seems like many patterns could have a similar SW flair with the correct fabrics.
As above, no Quilt Police, if you like it then Enjoy!! :)

I buy plenty of southwestern fabric when I'm in Arizona. I've done a few wallhangings so far and have a number of projects lined up.
