Anyone feel overwhelmed by their stash?

I'm the same way. I have a lot of fabric (maybe because it doesn't get used). I wanted to make something, found the fabric and didn't want to cut into it. And I still buy more. I now have to go through my quilt mags to get them out of my bedroom and into the sewing room.

I have a pretty large stash. In fact, my stash might be able to compete with some of the best, but I do not feel the least bit of guilt. I guess I feel that buying fabric is my one vice, as far as vices go, and my husband encourages me to buy more when we visit the LQS. Before our last trip, I argued that I do not need more. But he believes that it makes me happy. I am happy, but who am I to upset the delicate balance of a happy marriage? So, I suffer in silence as he drives me to the LQS.....and paid the bill! See, how could I take that away from him? He's such a dear!

Sometimes fabrics have to wait until they catch my eye, with a pattern in mind and then I go to work. Fabric collecting is an addiction but artists do the same thing with paints when they have a blank canvas just waiting for something to happen. Quilting gives me something to do, helps me feel good about my self, gives me an outlet for creating something beautiful and I never tire of it.

I am totally over welmond by masses of fabric. I can't hoard it!!! I would never sew if I had all that fabric around me like some of the pictures I have seen on here of stashes. If I see something I think I can't live without, I buy 1/4 yd. and then from there I add to it to do something. But NEVER the hoards I see on here. Thank GOD I can live with out a fabric store in my sewing room.

Well, I believe my journey as a quilter is as much about the process as the finished product. This includes collecting fabric, patterns, magazines, etc. A lot of the enjoyment I receive from my hobby comes from the collecting. I don't feel guilty. If someone needs something, I freely share. I try to use fabric I have. But if I see something I love and I have money, I will buy it. I recently purged all my magazines. I tore out the patterns I wanted and shared with my quilting group. I do the same with fabric I grow tired of. I give myself an allowance each payday and don't spend more than that. So I can't get myself into trouble. No worries, friends. Love your fabric.
