Default Anyone have this problem with Juki TL98Q?

My Juki is on a frame and quilting ok, but when I push the button for needle up, the needle will go up & down several times before stopping. When it does stop sometimes the needle is up, sometimes down & sometimes it's half way in between. Anyone know what's going on? It's an older model Juki. If this has happened to you, is it expensive to repair?

My Juki isn't on a frame but sits in a regular sewing machine cabinet. Occasionally, the foot pedal will get pushed too far back and jam against the leg of the cabinet which puts enough pressure on the pedal for a tiny bit of electricity to get through and make the needle go up and down. Move the pedal and the problem is solved.

Just a shot in the dark......Unplug the machine. Not from the wall but from the back of the machine. Now replug. just in case it's a connection issue. I can't remember if the Juki has a needle up and down button or not. If it does. push this also and have it do it's full function, needle down- needle up. Just in case....check your needle position. Is it all the way up in the shaft? One last pointer for all of you that have this machine. The Singer 2045 needles size 14 is good, work awesome in the Juki. The scarf of the needle is a little deeper therefore making a better stitch. Hope this helps.

I use the grace speed control, so it doesn't have a foot pedal. It does it when I use the speed control & also does it when I disconnected that and just pushed the machine's needle up/down button. I also have disconnected the power supply from the back of the machine and it still does it. I guess it's off to the repair shop soon.
