Default Scalloped Rotary Wheel for Rag Quilt?

I am making an aqua, coral and yellow rag quilt for our new baby and wondered what might happen if I used a scalloped rotary wheel to cut out the blocks? Any thoughts??

Hmmmm.

No first hand experience, but here's what I'm thinking:

I'm not sure if the scallops or the waves on the rotary blades are deep or pronounced enough so that when washed and fluffed you'd be able to notice the scallops; would the raveling just obscure those curves - making it look like a regular ragged edge?

It certainly wouldn't harm or screw up the blocks, but you can easily do a test sample to see what exactly will happen.

Good luck!

I would think it would cause problems with tiny lint in your machine while sewing all of those scalloped edges. And the end result would not look any different.

The scallops aren't very deep, so I think you would still have to snip the edges to get the ragging you want. After washing the quilt, I think you wouldn't even notice that the scallops had been there. But it wouldn't hurt anything to try!

I guess my first primary question is why do you want to use the pinking wheel ????

I used my big shot and the scallope square die for the first rag quilt I made out of flannel and it did just fine, also used it for cotton and no problems.

I made one out of flannel and was not happy with the result. It did not rag nicely and the scallops weren't noticeable after washing,
