    Default Quilted rocker runner covers

Has anyone ever made a set of quilted runner covers for a rocker? My daughter is wanting me to make a set of covers for her rocker so it won't scratch her hardwood floor. My question is does anyone have a suggestion of what type of fabric I should use. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Just a thought. If one were to cover the rockers wouldn't it make the chair have a tendency to scoot across the floor....I'm thinking if it moved even a little when a person went to sit in it, especially a senior citizen, they might end up on the floor instead of the chair?

That's what I was thinking too. I've got sticky-back velcro on the feet of my sofa and it slides on the hardwood floor - and that's a whole sofa!!

Not only that, but quilted cotton isn't supposed to withstand wood-against-wood with the added weight of chair and human - I think she will be (rather YOU) will be replacing those runners as quick as you can say "rock-a-bye-baby".

I would opt for a rubber backed rug. Or a rubber strip along the entire bottom of the rocker.

This would make the most sense to me. Rubber would not scratch the floor and would keep the chair from scooting out from someone trying to sit in it.

I use double sided tape and put cut a strip of that rubberized shelf liner over the runners. It doesn't scratch and the chair doesn't scoot all over the floor.

I've had wood floors and rocking chairs for over 60 years and if her rocker is marring the floor, she needs to better seal and wax the floor (and keep it cleaner), not pad the rocker. It's not wood on wood that scratches, it's the grit between them.
