Default Anyone turn vintage embroidery into quilts?

While cleaning out closets I have come across some old or should say some vintage embroidery. I have in my mind to do a quilt for a queen size bed (mine) incorporating these pieces. I am planning on using very light colors with no color scheme in mind, due to the light colors. Any suggestions on blocks to use in between the embroidered squares? I am not sure on the block size I should use? Thanks for any help. Spending some time just looking through the pictures on this site and others to give me some ideas, have not come across anything that is drawing me yet.

ive seen a few-- one close up it looked very nice--mostly doilies with crocet surrounds they were appliqued on panels with shabby sheek type fabrics were used to build up each panel to fit together the edgings were all sewn down
