    APQS longarm question

I purchased a used APQS and I have been using pantographs to practice on, however I am now wanting to do free motion ruler work. Do I need to purchase a little quilting table for the head of my machine? Along with the longarm I got a Hartley Fence and haven't a clue how to use it. To me it looks confusing and I've seen other Longarmers refer to the table that they connect to the machine for ruler work but their longarm wasn't an APQS. So can anyone help me out with this question for an APQS longarm?

Any ruler work on the long arm will require the ruler table. You need to have something to support the ruler from underneath. I would suggest the forum section on APQS. Other APQS owners are your best resource!

There are videos along with forums to ask any kind of APQS question. Good luck!

You will definitely need the extra support area for ruler work. Sorry I don't know anything about the Hartley Fence, but there are youtube videos on it. https://www.google.com/search?q=hart...+fence&tbm=vid

You definitely need a ruler base for your longarm. Here is a great blog from APQS describing it. http://www.apqs.com/blog/2014/07/22/...hen-you-quilt/

You can can probably find one on line to fit your machine, it looks like they are pretty universal for APQS https://shop.apqs.com/Hartley-Base-E...ter_p_115.html
or if you are handy and have a good place to cut thick plexi you may be able to fabricate one on your own.

Also APQS appears to recommend using the template foot when doing ruler work.

Thank all of you. I will begin my research today and joining the APQS forum sounds like a great idea. Thanks again
