I am a lurker and enjoy all the posts. I have worked on a quilt for my DD's graduation for almost a year and finished it today. When I took it out of the washer, the Fons and Porter water soluble markings were still there. I pretreated it and washed it again and some of them are still there. Any suggestions? This quilt was a labor of love and is a grandmother's flower garden in the middle with vines and roses appliqued on the border.

Mann,, I know you hate that happening. I am sad for you that it did.

Put "remove pencil marks" in our search field at the top of the page and hit enter. There are several posts that may hold your perfect answer. You will get lots of responses on your post too but if your in a hurry you may find your answer sooner than later.

Maybe you could try Oxi Clean Pre-Treatment. I know it takes blood out of a white wrestling singlet!

Did you wash in warm water? If so you may have set the markings in. Most don't like any kind of warmth/heat.

You could try Awesome general purpose cleaner, a paste of your brand of dry bleach alternative, or hydrogen peroxide.

I'd reccommend the paste route, and use an old toothbrush to really get the paste into the marks. Let it sit for a bit, then wash out gently. This may help as well. Good luck, and please remember to post how you eventually whipped this problem so we can all learn from it!

You might try rubbing alcohol. I know you feel bad about the marks. Also, I would contact pen maker it is possible they could help.

"Grandma's Spot Remover" available in most quilt stores. It takes out everything. I always keep a bottle close. It runs under 5.00
