I have started doing quite a bit of hand appliqueing and looking at getting an around the neck magnifier. Anyone have one they really like. I've been reading the reviews but wanted some input from this group. If you could, include magnification, and specifics about what you like about yours.

I use Mag-Eyes instead of an around-the-neck type of magnifier. I have the neck type but could never get it positioned right. (Boobs too big)

I had one which worked at the time. I've updated to an electric floor stand magnifying lens plus light. This swivels and turns where I want it for my hand embroidery on applique.
purchased via Amazon it will also split to table form as well.

from Nancys Notions and I love it. I use it everytime I handsew to thread my needles. The light is bright and it's comfortable around my neck. I've had it for over a year and the light still works.

I used a hang around magnifier years ago for cross stitching. It was a bit annoying but allowed me to see what I was doing. I no longer do it but still have it.

I ended up going with a floor model Ott Lite magnifier with lights. It works very well except I have trouble bending the flexible arm to get it in the right position to use. It seems to be too tall and in the wrong position. I love the lighting and the magnifying glass is nice and big allowing me to see so well.

I bought magnifying readers at the drugstore, they work great. Problem is, hubby keeps swiping them.

If you get one of those magnifying floor lamps, make sure you do not place it near a window. There have been reports of the sun shining through the lens and starting fires on furniture/carpets, etc.

I had the same problem. It would swing back and hit me in the nose.

I have the Beam-N-Read light. The thing that I like best about it is that there are two different levels of lighting, three or six LED bulbs. (Be sure to get the six bulb one. The three bulb is the older model.) There is a magnifying lens as well as two colors lens. The light color is good. You can google Beam-N-Read for the company website for the most complete information. It is available on Ebay and Etsy.
