Default attic windows block

My picture window is 5" x 7" (7" across by 5" high), I would like to know what size to make the sash / window sill, any suggestions? My pictures are all different Hawaiian prints, the window sill will be in shades of yellow/gold batik and the side wall will be a dark burnt orange with each window having a skinny black edge around all sides.

Depends on what method you will use to make the attic window frame.

Mitered corner vs. half square triangle corner.

Default width, top to bottom

Mitered corner. How wide should the sill be? Top to bottom, is there a standard size? (I've never made the attic windows block before).
My nephew and his soon to be finance' are getting married they were both born an raised in Hawaii, the attic windows for the center of the quilt all Hawaiian prints (because they both live here in WI now) and then there will be a border around the center and then winter, spring, summer, fall, attic window blocks across top, sides, bottom for WI scenery, then another border around them.

This might help to determine what size for the sashing..

I use 2 1/2" for windows that are 9.5". X. 10.5" . Perhaps go a little narrower for the size you are using. 2" ?

Before cutting all the fabric, make a couple of sample blocks and stare at them for a couple of days.

Wonderful idea for a quilt.
