This sounds crazy and I'm sure it should be easy but . . . Anyone know if there is a tutorial for making an extra wide ironing board cover. I tried a sheet but too much play when pressing clothes.

Years ago I purchased a polder ironing board that is 19 inches wide. All the wide covers in stores are 17 and 18. I have one on now but it comes off every time I pull a blouse or piece of fabric across. I checked on line and the board is no longer available.

You can just sew a casing around the outside edge of one you made, run some twine through the casing, put the cover on the board, pull the twine snuggly taut and tie it off. That should work.

I need to replace my ironing board cover and have spent some time browsing the tutorials on blogs about how they have made their own. Just put in free ironing board cover tutorials and see what comes up.

I agree with adding the casing. Or check your LQS...they have ironing board cover that they sell by the yard. Use your old cover as a template.
