A few years ago my oldest son thought he wanted to be a fireman. He took the class & everything. During that time he discovered that while natural fabrics will "go up in flames" they do burn up completely, while synthetics will melt onto the skin. My prayer is that none of the recipients of my quilts are ever in a fire yet I will always use natural fabrics in my quilts; wool & cotton.

I always use fire-retardant batting in my baby and toddler quilts. I get it at JoAnn's, but I'm sure it is available at quilt shops and/or on-line.
