I am looking for a pattern for a sling that you tie instead of buckle I guess. Any ideas?

I thought I would see if I could help. I own a moby wrap that I purchased off of craigslist. Got it for $20. I really enjoyed it until baby got bigger and it took more time to put on.Anyways there were a couple of sites that I found by typing free baby sling pattern into my yahoo search. Here are a couple. They look like they would be easy to follow. Hopefully this will help you.

I checked the links for the free patterns that JLD gave you...they are pretty much the same pattern as the one I paid for, so I'd suggest you use the free ones.

My daughter looked at the Mobi wrap. Didn't like the price, so measured the size of the wrap and then went to the LQS and bought the fabric. She loves the Mobi. She also has 2 slings that were given to here. Little D loves the Mobi, but Olivia prefers the sling, which is great because daughter can "hold" both at the same time.

Just after I'd given my daughter-in-law the baby sling I'd made her, I was searching the internet and came upon this news article about possible risks associated with these carriers.
I think it's worth reading it and deciding how to use your sling.

BTW, the carrier is really pretty :-)

FYI be careful of your baby sling, it was on the news last night that babys have suffocated in them. PLEASE PLEASE BE CAREFUL.
