Does anyone have one?? I'm emailing an owner of a quilt shop who sells machines... one I want to visit AFTER the craft sale.... She first suggested the Pfaff Expression 4.0, but she told me the price so we're moving onward--um, downward. She just mentioned a Babylock Quest--

I've never heard of them! Tell me their awesome--go ahead. :lol:

I really dont know anything about them other than Eleanor Burns and Nancy Zieman do the ads for them . Keep us posted on what you find out!!!

Sorry I can't help you with the new Babylok, but I can tell you I have an old one (1982) that is an absolute work horse. I used it all the time until I started quilting and never had any trouble with it. It's only been serviced 3 times since I bought it. Are you planning on doing a lot of garment sewing? If not, I don't know if it's worth the money, but it's your money.

I have a BabyLock Eseante 2 embroidery machine. I love it! I have had it for about 10 years and it still works like a charm. I do take it in for an "oil change and tune up" (as my DH calls it) every 1-2 years depending on how much I sew. My workhorse machine is a New Home that I have had for about 25 years. The only thing I've had to replace on her was the pedal - it stopped working right in the middle of making my nephew his Eagle Scout quilt. I take her in every year for maintenance.

I have friends that swear by Elna, Viking, Janome and Babylock. Just make sure that you and the machine get along really good. I think you will need to test drive the machine kinda like test driving a car. I know that I did that before getting my Babylock.

Thanks Lynne!! I'm going to do just that. There's a place about 25 miles from me that sells Pfaffs and Babylocks. I've been emailing the owner. The trip will be made right after the craft sale... hope I make enough to pay for one!!

I have the Babylock Elleure. This is also an embroidery machine. For an all purpose machine, I love it. I've had it three years now and not one single problem. I didn't quilt when I purchased it, though. Now that most of my sewing is quilting, I would love to have a machine that is geared more towards quilting.

I have a pfaff and a babylock I love them both I use the pfaff on anything I need a walking foot a wonerful machine mine is about 10 years old my babylock is new and still learning to use it but has some wonderful features
try them both and you can't go wrong either way

I have a Babylock Espire. I love it. I haven't had it for long. I am going for my second class at the store where I purchased it this evening. It has so many functions, like a fabric thickness sensor, auto thread cutter, hands free presser foot raising + lots more. It is obvious that the designers had input from quilters. I did a Google search to find it when I saw an ad with Eleanor Burns saying that it is the machine she uses for quilting. In fact, my machine was actually used by her show when she was in Lansing, Michigan at the end of the Summer. I got a very good deal on it, otherwise I would have had to wait until I won the lottery to own it. I was also very fortunate to be able to purchase it 12 months same as cash. Good luck with what ever you decide to purchase.
