Okay...when are you going shopping again? I'm getting the next flight in. LOL. What a great price on everything. I love anything amish. I have an amish made cedar chest that I got in Tennessee that would origionally anywhere else, have been $300-$400 or more and we got it for $150. I love it! Yeah, I'm not sure what a whoopie pie is either, but it sounds good!

A whoopie pie is a chocolate cake top and bottom smooshed with sugary yummy filling in the middle.

Here is the recipe for Whoopie Pies, also called Sweetie Pies

3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup milk

Filling:
1/2 lb. powdered sugar
1/4 cup soft shortening
1 tsp. butter
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 cup milk
3/4 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening, add sugar, salt and vanilla. Cream well. Add eggs and cocoa, beat well. Sift dry ingredients together. Add alternately with milk to cream mixture. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto greased cooke sheet, bake at 375 degrees for 11 - 12 minutes.
When cookies are cool, place a generous dollop on inverted cookie and place another on top.... yum yum

Thanks for the photo of the Whoopie Pies. The photo along with the recipe from Cathy is going to get tested out this weekend! :-) I'm sure my grandaughter will want to participate. :D
